クラスのプロジェクト(探究のテーマ)である、Community。その中でも、防災の日にちなんで今日は消防署の見学に行ってきました。消防士の方々からは、消防車の説明や緊急時の準備の速さなど、とても詳しく、そしてわかりやすく説明して下さいました。子ども達は消防車に乗らせて頂いたり、防火服を試着させて頂き、楽しい中に真剣な瞳!で体験をしていました。
最後にひとりひとり、消防士さんに不思議だと思った事や知りたいことを質問していきました。

What are the light on top of the fire engine for?
How do you fight fire with water?
How do you stay strong?
Why are the light only at the top?
Why is the smoke black and is it dangerous?

消防士さんはひとつひとつ丁寧に答えて下さり、みんな大喜び!

schoolに帰ってからは、消防士さんのお話を振り返りどんな風に感じたか皆で話し合いました。
とても素晴らしい経験の中で、多くの事を吸収できました!　

We visited the Fire Station last week on Thursday. The firefighters showed us the firetruck and explained about their equipment. They also allowed the children to sit on the driver seat of their fire truck. At the end, the children asked questions that they have been preparing to the firefighters. The firefighters answered every question very nicely. 

After coming back from the Fire Station, we took some time to review about what we learned at that day. 

The children really enjoyed their day at the Fire Station. But not only enjoyed, they also learned many new things from the firefighters. That is the beauty about doing projects! Looking forward to learning more about community and community helpers with the children　:)
